Trip to Medan (Part 1)

There’s just too many photos to put up. I shall split my post into several parts. Before I continue, a little context here. I went to Medan from Feb 6-11. I went with Nelson, my Singapore hostelmate who happens to stay in KL with me. Well, Nelson and I actually wanted to go Surabaya to visit Irvan, my Indonesian hostelmate/schoolmate. But we couldn’t stay in Irvan’s house and somehow Irvan can’t contact Alvin, my roommate in Singapore who also stays in Surabaya. So Nelson and I decided to ditch that plan and go to Medan instead where we can bunk in at Paul’s house (Nelson’s roommate). Good decision indeed.

And also it was a trip well timed. Not only did we manage to catch Paul, we managed to meet up with most of our Medan friends the day before they leave for Singapore on the 12th. Cool right?

The trip was fun. My life in Medan is just like KL….Going out, meeting friends for yum cha sessions in malls….haha….Not only that la, we also went up to Brastagi and drove further up to Simalem where we saw Lake Toba. Very cooling and refreshing. It was such a relaxing 3 days 2 nights stay up in the highland resort.

In Medan, it was mostly makan, makan and more makan. Damn good life la…..Enough words….Now for the pictures….

Me and Nelson in the Firefly airplane....Hey Firefly is actually better than AirAsia....It has more legspace, less passengers, better service, shorter queue, airport in Subang, and they actually served us with muffin and orange juice during our 1 hour flight!

Our first meal in Medan - Sate Padang.....Super delicious....It's some special curry sauce on the satay...Where can I eat this in Malaysia?

Count the number of satay varieties available. Each tray is a different kind of satay. There's 7 types! Squid, Beef, Chicken, Mutton, Telur Puyuh, some giblet satay.....but the best is the squid satay....I want more

Yosin, Paul, me and Nelson enjoying our Satay and Teh Sosro

The Medan beca...It's motor-powered...Cool stuff rite...But there's simply too many of these on the streets. No choice though cause it's the main public transportation for Medanese. No buses

The alternative to the Beca is the Sudako....Mini vans disguised as public buses

After our Satay makan session heading to a mall, we saw this huge Army Barracuda vehicle on the streets...Huge vehicle cruising along the streets.

This is a Hindu temple that I saw while we were in the car along Medan streets. Nelson and I were shocked to find Indians in Medan. We didn't know that there are Indians there...Well at least now we know...And we also found out that the Medanese Chinese are indeed very very Chinese...

Some photo of the streets in Medan

Can't excape this...Every major city, someone will surely sell this all-too-popular brand of t-shirts....haha

Paul, Pratiwi, Yosin and Yindy....on our trip up to Brastagi....We had fried frog legs....Yummy

Nelson, Paul and Me

This is my most favourit group shot....Us at the theme park in Brastagi after a crazy ride. Pratiwi, Yosin, Yindy, Nelson, Me, and Paul...And if u realised, Nelson's hair is a lil brown...Yea he dyed it in Medan the day before.

Us posing for a crazy shot....Let's eat Paul up...mwahaha

A group shot taken when first arrived in Simalem, a further 2 hours drive from Brastagi

Well the girls call this the best shot ever taken coz Nelson's not in the photo...haha....pity u Nelson, got picked on all the way in Medan...

Haha...Everyone admiring the teddy bear on my Kanye West sweater....

Ok I think this is enough for Part 1. I still have many photos to put up….Just wait for the next update k..See ya
