My name is Bobby Ong. I was born on the 12th of April 1989 in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. I grew up in Puchong, a suburb on the outskirts of KL. I studied in SK Puchong Jaya and SMK Batu Lapan (aka 8th Mile High School), hence my love for Eminem.

I did A-Levels in Anderson Junior College, Singapore under the ASEAN Scholarship. Even though Singapore and Malaysia share many similarities, shifting to the island for 2 years really opened up my eyes that both countries are vastly different especially the attitude and mindset of the people.

I have been active in student leadership and small-scale entrepreneurship. I play basketball and used to do sprinting and hurdles in secondary school.

Currently, I’m pursuing Economics in University College London under the sponsorship of Sime Darby, Malaysia’s largest public listed company. I have a 5 years bond to serve but I’m determined to honour the contract I signed. I was supposed to head to the US to University of California, Berkeley but life decided that I should head to London instead. Ironically going to London is my childhood dream and in a sense I’m living my dream right now.

My tagline in life is to “Dream Big, Dream Differently, Chase the Dream“. My role models are Datuk Tony Fernandes and Sir Richard Branson. I aim to be the CEO of a public-listed company someday and to revolutionise and shake up whatever industry that I’ll be involved someday in the future.

My hobbies are reading, conceptualizing ideas, socializing, sports and designing TRAVELLING. That’s the whole reason why I love London. Studying in UCL gives me the opportunity to travel around Europe every holiday and thanks to budget travel, it’s pretty much affordable to do it on a limited budget. The goal is to visit all the European countries by the end of 3 years of university.
