If I had a million dollars-meme

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 20, 2007 in Tags

I got tagged by BengBeng and Choonie…..Easy job for me…Do two tags at one shot. :) And this is tag #2 out of 3…This feels like going back to primary school when teacher ask you to write an essay on what will you do if you have a million dollars….

Last time I will come out with all kind of grandiose plan if I had a million dollar coz it seems like a very big sum….But now? Don’t seem like a very big sum….

Anyway, what to do if I suddenly have 1 million bucks?

1. Buy myself a nice BMW

bmw-z4.jpg

I don’t care how many series…just the BMW car…Then I can go around showing off to all my friends that I now drive a BMW as compared to them driving around those Japanese cars…..

2. Stop studying and be my own boss

Ya….studying now very boring la….Damn sien…Everyday same routine…And things are getting tougher. Homework damn bloody a lot….And Singapore has this freaking exam oriented system…Like it or not got to be kiasu and fight with the others already. My friends all start studying for final year promotional exams already even though it’s still a good 40++ days away….

If I suddenly own US$1 million, after buying my BMW, I’ll start up some company and be my own boss…Then I can hire some people to work (for) under me….Wah…seems pretty fun…..Mwahahaha

3. Shop for new barang-barang

I’m my new boss already right? Need to be presentable right? Time to buy some nice clothing for myself….And then also some nice gadgets for myself….All those funny gizmos esp iPod I must get hold off….And a DSLR too! And then I have enough money to go around clubbing….Whoa…..Banyak syok!

4. Throw some money into stock market

The stock market seems pretty mysterious with many people earning big bucks and many losing big bucks too…Well since I now have the money, let me just throw around some into the stock market see how it goes….See can get any more richer or not…

Still got money after spending all these ah?

Driving

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 20, 2007 in Reviews

Someone help me get my driving license quick! I feel like a loser not having my driving license even though I’m already 18. Every time I go back to KL I see my friends driving around town, I feel jealous. They are driving their Hyundai, Peugeot, Volvo etc but me? I still have to rely on public transport.

It’s not that bad in Singapore coz of the top class public transport system here. But going back to Malaysia for holidays I’d really feel the need for a car. But the worst part is I have no time to learn driving till after my A-levels next year the earliest.

Now, for those having cars out there especially my friends in the US, I’m sure all of you need some Automobile Insurance Policies right? It’s illegal to drive on the road without the insurance policy right?

And from stories I heard from my parents, insurance policies differ from each user based on their driving record and all right? I remembered my uncle who did not want to claim a smashed up windshield from the insurance company so as to keep the premium low.

Anyway, the next time you want to get a quote for your automobile, why not try this company - Advantage Auto Quotes who sells all types of car insurance including. You can even get an Online Insurance Policy here. How cool can that be?

Blogsvertise.com

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 19, 2007 in Reviews

I was surfing around blogs last night and somehow, somewhere I stumbled upon some blog writing about Blogsvertise and how the blogger managed to earn some money out of it. So being my curious self, I followed the link and signed myself up for this service.

So how does this Blogsvertise service work? It is quite different from other paid-blogging services. Its competitors require you to go and compete for a limited number of opportunities for the blog task, but Blogsvertise on the other hand will assign the blogging task to you. We as bloggers don’t need to endorse the product or sevice but just have to mention and link back 3 times in our entry.

More importantly, how is the payout rate? Its websites state that payout rate for new accounts typically range from $4 to $25. However the average payout rate is around $5 to $15. To me that’s quite a nice worthwhile figure. So what are you waiting for?

Karangan Terbaik UPSR 2007

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 16, 2007 in Funny

I’m way too busy to update something on my life in junior college. So I’m gonna update with a message I received from Friendster. Kinda shocking I would say.

Karangan Terbaik UPSR 2007
Karangan budak darjah 4

Pagi itu pagi minggu. Cuaca cukup sejuk sehingga mencapai takat suhu beku.

Dia melanggar emak saya. Emak saya tercampak ke dalam gaung. Dia menjerit “Adoi!”.

Sports Carnival

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 13, 2007 in Diary

I had a long weekend starting from Wednesday afternoon. It’s due to Singapore’s National Day. On Friday, my hostel , [tag]Oldham Hall[/tag] organised a sports carnival. My house green house emerged as overall champion.

And to represent our house, we need green t-shirts. Our good house captain, Samuel bought us all brand new light green Giordano t-shirts. Of course money not from his pocket-la. Claimed from hostel sports house fund.

Here’s some random pix:

This is me and Duc, my roommate for this year. He’s from Vietnam.

And then I realised some interesting fact. There’s people from red house, yellow house and green house. And what does those 3 colours form? Traffic light!

Float

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 9, 2007 in Diary

Last week was the decisive week for me. It was crazily hectic trying to complete the float. We took our sweet time doing the float early in the days. We had 6 months to complete the float, but as usual, most of the work is only done at the last minute. Besides building the float, we had to come out with a 3-minutes performance and we choreographed and practiced it only in the past week. Real rushed work indeed.

Anyway, from my previous update, you can see the float was this much completed:

Here’s another pix of the float. All following pixs of the float are in chronological order.

float1j.jpg

The wooden structure was at the background was how we supported the globe. Kudos to Eve who conceptualised the idea. And if you are wondering how was the globe built, it was a box in the core and newspaper covered all over it with glue till it became a ball shape. You can see the newspaper covering in the first pix. Thank you Wan Xin, Yajie and the group of Singaporean girls who helped out with the globe :)

float1i.jpg

Eve wanted to show the height of the globe. So she made me stand next to it. I’m 1.76m, so you can roughly estimate the height of the globe at its tip.

float1h.jpg

This is Gaurav, my Secretary for the float project. As you can see he’s standing next to the Burj al-Arab, the 7 star hotel in Qatar, Middle East. We had to demolish the structure and redo the whole thing on the last day of float building because of an unstable base. That night - 2/8/07 Thursday, we stayed back in school till 9.30 pm.

float1g.jpg

Me with the KL Petronas Twin Towers. Thank you Lek Wen, Jacqueline, Katherine for building it. Look closely at the pix and you can see some sphere rattan structuring at the background of the pix. It was supposed to be the globe. But Wan Xin had to redo it because it couldn’t stay in shape.

float1f.jpg

This is our area in college. What a mess we created in school for the past few months….

float1e.jpg

This is Eve with her new Burj al-Arab. As you can see it’s late in the night when we finished our float on Thursday. And look at the mess when we build the float….We had a tough time clearing up after every session…

float1d.jpg

This is Prasanta. Thank you very much for guiding us in the performance although I know you are very busy. Sorry we are all real amateurs in dancing and it made you go bonkers…And thank you all Indians for completing the Taj Mahal with such elaborate details…

float1b.jpg

Kai Peng and Eve with the Burj al-Arab

float1.jpg

Haha…me with a long piece of wood…Everytime it’s sawing and nailing…It’s so fun….And it’s a real good way to de-stress…lol

float2.jpg

Me and Lek Wen…

float3.jpg

On Friday, 3/8/07 it was our full dress rehearsal at NTU. We hired a lorry to bring our float there. Lek Wen sat in front with the driver while Ming Kwan and me sat at the back. It was cool sitting at the back of the lorry. Oh btw, our Principal, Ms Susan Leong spoke to us before we left and we were asked what represented Singapore in our float? “Ermmmm…..” was all I could manage….We were supposed to build Merlion but we ran short of time and it was too tedious. Well, she suggested putting a big red dot on our globe to signify Singapore and I agreed with her….

float4.jpg

Our completed float at NTU. Oops the globe is missing in the pix…lol

float5.jpg

Here’s another pix with the globe…This was taken before pre-judging on Thursday afternoon around 4pm at NTU. FYI, we changed our full dress rehearsal from 1.30 pm to 10.00 am because most of us have to rush back for Investiture in college. So at 11.30 pm sharp most of us left by cab to college. Then after the investiture at 3pm, Lek Wen, Gaurav and me went to NTU again by cab for pre-judging. Lots of travelling on that day.

float6.jpg

Float from a ground-level angle….Just look at the Taj Mahal’s details…Thank you Abitha…

float7.jpg

On our way back from NTU on Saturday, 4/8/07 after the performance. We brought back our supporters by lorry too…From left Erin, Suen Xin and Angelin. And on the right is Kai Peng with his new red performance t-shirt. Thanks you Kai Peng for being the Narrator…

float8.jpg

Lek Wen, me and Ming Kwan in our white performance t-shirt. Thank you Ming Kwan for being Sound IC

float9.jpg

Final pix. 2007/2008 Pre-U Asean scholar at AJC.

Finally it’s all over. Thank you all for helping me out in the long process of building the float.

Last Week

Posted by Bobby Ong on Aug 9, 2007 in Diary, Students' Council

Sorry for the long update. I was extremely busy last week. It was my killer week. In fact I wouldn’t be wrong to say that last week had been the toughest week on me since I arrived in Singapore.

I was stressed out with a lot of things. And just fyi, last week, on average I arrived back to hostel around 8.30pm. The earliest I reached back was 7pm while the latest was 10.15pm.

On one hand I had my float to complete. What float? Read here for some background info…

Then, the exco position of my college [tag]Students’ Council[/tag] was announced. I ran for President but I didn’t manage to get the top position. I was selected Secretary instead. The position of the exco members was not vote based by the Councillors but was selected by teachers.

I have a serious big problem with me. My attitude of being [tag]confident[/tag] gives the impression of me being snobbish and arrogant. I’m a little lost. Ask myself this question. How do you be a confident person without being [tag]arrogant[/tag]?

The very attitude that brought me this far is bringing me down. Change is the key but how? 1000 questions, zero answer…

Anyway, that wasn’t the only things that made me go bonkers last week. I had rehearsals during the week for our Investiture that Friday.

And I was even made busier by the workload of being completing a proposal for the upcoming Teachers’ Day in my college. The proposals have been completed. It’s now down to implementation.

And lastly, I had some problems of getting a bus ticket back to KL for the 5 days break I’m enjoying now due to Singapore’s National Day celebration today. Tried almost all bus companies but couldn’t secure any tickets. Alas, I’m staying here to finish up my mountain high pile of homework.

With all those non-studies workload, I have not been concentrating on my studies. I have not been doing tutorials, have not been listening to teachers in college etc….Lucky now I have a short break. Since I couldn’t go back home but am stuck in hostel, I’m gotta finish up all my tutorials, and understand the stuff that was taught the past week and also of course update my lovely blog here….
